Size
Our Purple Barley is a 6-row hulless barley. This means that the hull easily falls off, leaving the grain with all of the bran and germ intact. This grain is high in zinc, fibre and B vitamins, with the purple exterior having antioxidant anthocyanins and high beta-glucans that lower cholesterol. Purple barley has a hearty and chewy texture with a nutty, slightly smoky flavour. The purple colour remains after cooking and is beautiful in rice bowls, or as risotto.
